Fairfield, Conn. – On Saturday, Feb. 7, Sacred Heart Baseball welcomed families, friends, alumni, and supporters back to campus for the program's 4th annual Hot Stove Luncheon.
The event began with a lively cocktail hour in Consigli inside Martire Family Arena. Old teammates reconnected, former players swapped stories, and generations of Pioneers gathered under one roof. With another strong turnout, the room buzzed with energy before guests made their way to the West Campus building for the formal program.
Head Coach Pat Egan opened the afternoon by thanking everyone for attending and outlining the day's itinerary. After inviting guests to enjoy their meal, the program of recognitions began.
Egan first welcomed former Sacred Heart standout Bill Foglio to the stage to reflect on the historic 1976 World Series team. Foglio shared stories from that memorable postseason run, recalling both the grit of the team and the lifelong bonds formed along the way. Members of the 1976 squad who were in attendance were then invited to the front of the room, where they received Sacred Heart Baseball hats and a resounding round of applause from the crowd.
The spotlight then shifted to another championship era. Assistant Coach TK Kiernan passed the microphone to his former colleague, Nick Giaquinto, head coach of the 2015 NEC Championship team, for which Kiernan served as an assistant. Giaquinto spoke about the resilience of that team and the unforgettable weekend they captured the NEC title. Players from the 2015 squad were invited forward and presented with framed newspaper-style commemoratives honoring their championship season.
Egan and Kiernan then turned their attention to last year's team, inviting the members of the 2025 senior class to the front. Each senior received a shadowbox displaying their jersey; a lasting keepsake marking their time in a Pioneer uniform.
Individual achievements from the 2025 season were also recognized. PJ Rogan was named Pitcher of the Year, while Paul Glenchur earned Scholar Athlete honors. Alex Ungar was celebrated twice, receiving both Iron Pio of the Year and Most Valuable Player. Lou Stallone was honored with the Nick Giaquinto Teammate of the Year Award.
Two additional milestones drew special recognition. Dante D'Amore was celebrated for recording his 200th career hit and was presented with the lineup card from the game in which he reached the milestone. Ungar also received his NCAA Division III All-Region certificate, adding another accolade to his standout season.
The afternoon concluded on a lighthearted note, as members of the 2026 roster took turns introducing one another to the crowd, each sharing a fun fact about their teammate. The moment provided laughter and a glimpse into the camaraderie of the current squad — a reminder that while Sacred Heart Baseball proudly honors its past, its future is just as bright.
Another successful Hot Stove Luncheon came to a close, having once again united generations of Sacred Heart Baseball in celebration of tradition, achievement, and community.
