How It Happened:
SHU was able to quickly settle down in game two, keeping the high-powered Bobcats scoreless over the first two innings.
On the other hand, SHU broke though in the top of the third inning, taking a 3-0 lead. The Pios started the frame with two quick outs, but back-to-back doubles from Elle Leckrone and Cierra Bender plated the game's first run. Ella Stoops kept the runners moving with a single before Charlene Davis slammed a two-run double to centerfield to make it 3-0.
Quinnipiac answered in the bottom of the fourth, scoring one to cut the margin to 3-1. SHU worked its way out of a major jam in the inning as the Bobcats loaded the bases with no outs. After scoring the run, the bases were still loaded, but two straight outs at home and a popup ended the frame without any more damage to the Pios.
A scoreless fifth followed before SHU exploded for eight runs in the top of the sixth inning. The Pioneers tallied eight runs on eight hits and two walks. Highlights of the frame were a Burras' three-RBI triple and RBI doubles from both Bender and Davis. It was Davis' double, her second hit of the inning, that settled SHU's win at 11-1 in six innings.
With eight of her 11 runs of support coming in the top of the sixth, Heath did the most to defend SHU's smaller lead for the rest of the game. She tallied her fourth complete-game win of the season, going 6.0 innings, without allowing an earned run and striking out one.
