How It Happened
Peter Link opened the game with a single, then quickly created pressure on the bases with back-to-back stolen bases to move all the way to third. After CJ Nolan worked a walk, Will Rudolph delivered an RBI single to bring Link home and give Sacred Heart an early 1-0 lead.

On the mound, Jake Friel opened with a strikeout in the bottom of the first.

Marist answered with a six-run second inning to swing the momentum, but the Pioneers responded in the third.

JW Fitzgerald started the rally with a single, Link followed with a walk, and Nolan lined an RBI single to score Fitzgerald. Rudolph added another RBI single to plate Link, and Ronan Donohue followed with a run-scoring single of his own to cut the deficit to 6-4.

Jase Schueller settled in out of the bullpen, recording two strikeouts in the third and adding strikeouts in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings. Marist, however, continued to add on with one run in the third, two in the fourth, and another in the eighth to extend its lead.

Sacred Heart chipped away in the sixth when Dave Yorke singled and later came home on a sacrifice fly from Link after Fitzgerald reached and stole second, trimming the deficit to 9-5.

In the ninth, Rudolph doubled to spark one final push, and later came around to score after a Marist error, but the comeback fell short as the Pioneers dropped the finale, 10-6.
