Fairfield, Conn. – Combining their success on the court and with the classroom, seven Sacred Heart University men's tennis players were honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as Scholar-Athletes, while leading the Pioneers to an All-Academic Team honor.
All combined, the Pioneers closed out the 2025-26 academic year with a cumulative GPA of 3.69 earning the ITA's Team All-Academic award for the seventh straight year and the 13th time since 2010.
To be honored individually as a Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must have completed the current academic year with a grade point average of 3.5 or better and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
Of the seven Pioneers to earn Scholar-Athlete honors, six are returning Pioneers, all of which earned the distinction for at least the second time in their career. Leading the way overall is senior Paul Goncalves who earns his fourth ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition while fellow senior Arya Alla earns the honor for the second time.
A pair of juniors were honored with Milan Karajovic securing his third Scholar-Athlete distinction, joined by classmate Brennan Hart-Nova with his second honor. Sophomores Connor Liona and Vayo Rodriguez both earned their second accolade, while first-year Darren Huang rounds out the Pioneers individual honors.
Sacred Heart closed out the 2025-26 campaign with a 4-17overall record, including a 3-5 mark in the Metro Conference, finishing in a two-way tie for sixth place among the nine-team league.
