A Pair of Pioneers Earn Themselves Weekly Awards

Riehl earns her first conference award of her young career
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – First-year Alexandra Riehl and senior Kyran Thievon each earned Metro Conference weekly honors, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.
Riehl was named the Metro Conference Rookie of the Week following a two-goal performance in Saturday's 2-0 win over Canisius. The first-year entered the contest without a collegiate goal to her name but walked away with the first two goals of her career. Riehl opened the scoring to record her first career game-winner before adding another in the second half to secure the win.
Thievon had herself a day in net during Saturday's shutout victory, recording six saves to help lead the Pioneers to the 2-0 win. The senior played the full 90 minutes for the first time this season, earning her third win of the year while also securing her first clean sheet of the season. After the game, her goals-against average dropped to a whopping .27.
Both of these Pioneers will be back in action this weekend as Marist comes into town for a Saturday afternoon kickoff scheduled for noon.
