SHU Baseball Set to Take on Kansas State in Three-Game Series

(Manhattan, KS) – The Sacred Heart University Baseball team is set to take on Kansas State University in a three-game series against the Wildcats out of the Big 12 Conference.
SHU is coming off a 6-3 non-conference win against Yale on Tuesday afternoon at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard, improving their record to 10-16 on the season. The Pioneers are 7-5 in NEC play at the moment, tied for fourth with FDU and Wagner.
Nick Leiningen (2-2, 6.48 ERA) takes the hill in the opening game of the series Thursday at 7:30 pm (EST), followed by Troy Scribner (2-3, 4.67 ERA) Friday at 7:30 pm (EST), and Kody Kerski (1-3, 6.90 ERA) in the finale Saturday at 2:00 pm (EST).
Junior shortstop John Murphy leads the team with a .347 average and comes into the series swinging a hot bat, hitting .441 (15-34) with 12 runs and 11 RBI over the last 11 games. Sophomore DH/C Dan Perez also has been hitting well lately, at .368 (14-38) with seven runs and five RBI over his last 11 games as well.
Kansas State enters the series with an overall record of 14-14, and a Big 12 record of 3-6. The Wildcats are coming off a 6-0 loss to Nebraska on Tuesday.
