Pioneers Earn 4-3 Win over Hartford

FAIRFIELD, Conn – The Sacred Heart men's tennis team earned the doubles point and won three singles matches on their way to a hard fought 4-3 win over Hartford at the SHU Tennis Courts Wednesday afternoon. The Pioneers improve to 5-9 on the season.
The Pioneers won two out of three doubles matches with Justin Pagan (Flushing, NY) and Brian Power (Pelham, NY) winning 8-2 at second doubles and Freshman Anthony Savio (Bangalore, India) and Ryan Wennberg (Huntington Station, NY) defeating Juan Molina and Morgan White 8-6 at three doubles.
In singles, Savio made it two-for-two on the day with a 7-6 (4), 6-0 win at number five singles, while Matt Dean (Newington, CT) and Kevin Budrawich (New Canaan, CT) also tallied wins. Dean defeated America East Player of the Week Alex Holdstein, 6-0, 6-3, while Budrawich took home a 6-4, 6-2 win at number three singles.
The Pioneers are back in action on Friday morning when they play host to the Wagner Seahawks at 10:30 am.
