Hernandez and Levinson Go Undefeated in Singles at Wesleyan Invite

Vencl and Apostolou posted a pair of wins in singles play
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's tennis team traveled to Wesleyan to compete in the Wesleyan Invitational for its final fall competition. Antoine Hernandez finished the weekend 3-0 in singles and 1-1 in doubles. Charlie Levinson also went undefeated in singles going 2-0, while finishing 1-1 in doubles play.
The Wesleyan Invitational was composed of five teams including SHU, Skidmore, Babson, Coast Guard and Wesleyan.
In singles action, Hernandez defeated Jose Gonzalez in three sets after bouncing back from a 5-7 opening set setback. Hernandez claimed the next two by the final scores of 6-2 and 10-7. Hernandez picked up another win against Coast Guard's Benjamin Bonetto in an easy 6-3 and 6-1 victory. He capped off his winning streak with a hard-fought three setter against Harry Collomb going 6-4, 4-6 and 10-8.
Levinson fought hard in single play defeating Babson's Jose Gonzelez, despite a 5-7 loss in the first set, following a two-set victory, 6-2 and 10-7. Levinson earned his second win of the weekend as he defeated Wesleyan's Max Lustgarten in three-set thriller, 7-7, 4-6 and 10-6.
Lefteri Apostolou and Matyas Vencl also also saw success in singles play recording two wins and one loss each. Paul Goncalves, Enrique Laennec-Baffrey and Darius Eftekhar each picked up a singles win.
In doubles play, the Pioneers picked up four wins. The duo of Vencl and Goncalves defeated Wesleyan's Tai MacDonald and Gregoire Legrand by a score of 8-3, while Levinson and Hernandez also defeated Wesleyan's Harry Portnoy and Harry Collomb with a score of 8-4. Apostolou and Laennec-Baffrey topped Skidmore's Kyle Lundberg and Yuval Goodman 8-5, and Milan Karajovic and Brennan Hart-Nova defeated Coast Guard's Logan Des Los Santos and Benjamin Carlander by a score of 8-3.
