Pioneers on a three-game win streak for the first time since 2013
NEW HAVEN, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University men's tennis team hosted the United States Coast Guard Academy at Yale University on Thursday. The Pioneers won against the Bears, 5-2.
SHU took the doubles point with wins from the teams of Darius Eftekhar/Matyas Vencl and Charlie Levinson/Antoine Hernandez.
Junior Lefteri Apostolou won the first singles match in straight sets at No. 1. It also marked 25th career victory for the Barquisimeto, Venezuela native.. Coast Guard tallied the next two to tie the match at two-all.
The Pioneers clinched the next three to earn their seventh win of the season.
With the victory, SHU is now on a three-game win streak for the first time since 2013.
Up next, the Pioneers host NEC foe FDU on Saturday at 7:45 p.m.
