Apostolou and Mello earn wins in singles
WORCESTER, Mass.— The Sacred Heart University men's tennis team was edged, 4-3, at Holy Cross in its final match of the regular season on Tuesday.
The Pioneers started out with a 1-0 lead after earning the doubles point.
The Crusaders tied the match before graduate student Alberto Mello earned a straight-set victory to give the Pios a 2-1 advantage.
Junior Lefteri Apostolou scored another straight-set win at No. 1 to make it 3-2.
Unfortunately, Holy Cross took the final two singles matches to bring the contest to its final score.
Up next, SHU will be the 3rd in the 2023 Northeast Conference Tournament and will play No. 6 Merrimack in the first round on Friday at 9 a.m.
Doubles
Singles
