
Women's Tennis Earns Third Win in a Row

Savita Bagirathan had a match deciding point
TRUMBULL, CONN. — The Sacred Heart University women's tennis team earned a 5–2 victory over Lehigh University on February 14 at the Tennis Club of Trumbull, improving to 3–3 overall on the season.
The Pioneers secured the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. The duo of Ava Nelson and Malena del Olmo cruised to a 6–2 victory at second doubles, while Savita Bagirathan and Brooke Tuffs followed with a 6–4 win at the third position to clinch the point.
Sacred Heart carried the momentum into singles play, winning four matches to seal the team victory. Nelson dominated at No. 1 singles with a commanding 6–3, 6–0 win over Fortunes. Bagirathan earned a hard-fought three-set victory at No. 2, rebounding from a first-set tiebreak loss to defeat Dogadalova 6–7 (3), 6–4, 6–4. Zuba added a straight-sets win at No. 3, 6–3, 6–2, over Uhoronchenko.
Despite, Lehigh picking up points at No. 4 and No. 6 singles it was Kiah James securing the decisive winning point at No. 5 singles, delivering a strong 6–2, 6–2 performance against Shiyani.
The Pioneers will face UConn in Manchester on February 18th at the Magic Lincer Tennis Club at 1:00 PM.
