
Women's Tennis Earns First Win at Wagner

Ola Irla Bartyzel shined in singles and doubles
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Sacred Heart women's tennis team put together a strong all-around performance on Saturday, earning a 5-3 road victory over Wagner.
Sacred Heart took control early by claiming the doubles point, winning two of the three matches. At No. 1 doubles, Ola Irla Bartyzel and Olivia Zuba earned a convincing win, while Ava Nelson and Brooke Tuffs secured the clinching victory at No. 3 to give the Pioneers a 1–0 lead heading into singles play.
The Pioneers carried that momentum into singles, capturing five of six matches. Bartyzel set the tone at the top of the lineup with a straight-set win at No. 1 singles, and Nelson followed with a solid victory at No. 2 to extend the lead. Sacred Heart continued to roll through the middle of the order as Savita Bagirathan and Zuba both earned wins at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively.
At No. 6 singles, Kiah James closed out the match with a straight-set victory to seal the team result. Wagner picked up its lone singles point in a tightly contested match at No. 5.
