Men’s Tennis Defeats Stonehill in Home Opener

Vencl and Laennec-Baffrey secure singles and doubles wins
TRUMBULL, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's tennis team defeated Stonehill at home Saturday evening, 4-0. The Pioneers improve to 2-2 on the season.
In doubles play, Matyas Vencl and Enrique Laennec-Baffrey secured the No. 1 win 6-1. Connor Liona and Brennan Hart Nova secured the point for the Pios at No. 3 in a 6-3 win.
The Pioneers secured No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 singles for the victory. Vencl was at No. 1 and defeated Jacob Borch- Nielsen 6-1, 6-4. Laennec-Baffrey was at No. 2 securing the 6-0, 6-3 victory over Guillermo Bennaton. At No. 3 was Paul Goncalves who wrapped things up for the Pios in a 6-2, 6-2 win against Nicolas Arredondo.
The Pioneers return to action February 7th at home against Wagner at 8:15 p.m.
