
Men's Tennis Drops Heartbreaker to Lehigh

TRUMBULL, CONN. — The Sacred Heart University men's tennis team dropped a narrow 4–3 decision to Lehigh University on February 14 at the Tennis Club of Trumbull.
The Pioneers opened the match by securing the doubles point, winning two of three contests. Connor Liona and Paul Goncalves earned a 6–4 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Vayo Rodriguez and Brennan Hart-Nova battled to a 7–6 (5) win at No. 3 to clinch the early advantage. Frederick McRae and Tomasz Garbacz fell in a tight 6–4 decision at the top spot.
In singles play, Sacred Heart collected two wins but came up just short in the overall team score. Garbacz led the way at No. 1 singles with a strong 2–6, 6–3, 6–4 comeback victory over Jaya. Darren Huang delivered a dominant 6–3, 6–0 win at No. 3 singles against Oazkhanov.
Lehigh won at #2, #4 and #6 singles, the match was decided at #5 singles with Connor Liona dropping a hard fought three set battle with Lehigh's Henry Stoller.
