Siena broke through in the fourth to take a 1–0 lead, but Sacred Heart responded in the bottom half.
Gavin Donohue doubled and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt from Chuck Tallman before scoring on a wild pitch. Kyle Cincinnati followed with a walk, and Will Rudolph launched a two-run home run to give the Pioneers a 3–1 advantage.
Siena added single runs in the fifth and sixth to keep it close, but Matuschat continued to deal, recording two more strikeouts in the sixth.
The Pioneers created separation in the bottom of the inning as Gavin Donohue singled and Tallman walked to spark the rally. Sacred Heart broke the game open in the seventh. After walks from Gavin Donohue and Tallman, Cook delivered a triple to drive in two runs. Cincinnati added another baserunner before Nolan brought in Cook with a single. Fitzgerald drew a walk, and Ronan Donohue capped the inning with an RBI single to extend the lead.
