
Gyllenhaal Selected to Compete in 2026 IWLCA Senior All-Star Game

First Team All-MAAC defender earns national recognition after standout senior season for the Pioneers
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse senior defender Brooke Gyllenhaal has been selected to compete in the 2026 IWLCA Senior All-Star Game, as announced by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) on Wednesday. Gyllenhaal will represent the Pioneers on the Division I roster, capping off an outstanding collegiate career alongside many of the nation's top senior student-athletes.
The Senior All-Star Games will take place Saturday, May 30, at Tierney Field at USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland. The Division I game featuring Gyllenhaal is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET, following the Division III matchup at 10:00 a.m. and preceding the Division II contest at 3:00 p.m. Admission to all games is free, though no live stream will be available.
A First Team All-MAAC selection in 2026, Gyllenhaal anchored the Sacred Heart defense throughout her senior campaign. She started all 15 games and emerged as one of the conference's most disruptive defensive players, ranking second in the MAAC in ground balls per game (3.07) and fourth in caused turnovers per game (1.93). She led the Pioneers with 46 ground balls and 29 caused turnovers while adding seven draw controls.
Gyllenhaal recorded eight games with multiple caused turnovers, including season highs of five against both Iona and Quinnipiac. She also made an impact offensively, scoring goals in back-to-back contests against Gardner-Webb and Monmouth.
Over the course of her four-year career, the Abington, Pennsylvania native appeared in 52 games with 40 starts, establishing herself as one of the program's premier defenders. She totaled 85 ground balls, 52 caused turnovers, seven draw controls, two goals, and one assist during her collegiate career.
In addition to earning MAAC Defender of the Week honors during her senior season, Gyllenhaal finished the year ranked 10th nationally in NCAA Division I in ground balls per game (3.07). She also helped lead a Sacred Heart defense that ranked 14th nationally in caused turnovers per game (11.20).
