The Pioneers fall to 3-2 in MAAC action
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse team dropped a 12-2 decision to the Siena Saints on Saturday afternoon at Hickey Field in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action. With the setback, the Pioneers fall to 3-2 in MAAC action, while the Saints improve to 2-3.

How it Happened:
The opening half belonged to the Saints, who carried the momentum into the break with a four-goal advantage. Siena capitalized on its opportunities early, converting six of its 12 shot attempts, including a pair of goals from Elizabeth Wamp to pace the attack.
Sacred Heart struggled to find its offensive rhythm in the first 30 minutes, managing just five total shots. Despite the limited chances, the Pioneers were able to get on the board twice.
Nadine Galiano opened the scoring for SHU in the first quarter, finishing a feed from Jenna Lively. In the second quarter, Ryann Kearns added another, firing a shot glove side high off a long cross from Maggie Araneo to cut the deficit to four, 6-2, heading into halftime.
The Saints continued to control play coming out of the break, extending their lead to 8-2 in the third quarter with a pair of goals while holding the Pioneers scoreless to build a six-goal cushion heading into the final frame.
Sacred Heart was unable to generate a late surge in the fourth quarter, as the offense could not find the back of the net to spark a comeback. The Pioneers registered four shot attempts in the final period, with all three shots on goal turned aside by the Siena keeper, as the Saints pulled away for a 12-2 final.
