Women's Lax Drops Season Opener to Northwestern

EVANSTON, IL - Sophomore Lynda McCandlish had three goals and junior Angela McMahon a pair of goals and two assists to lead Northwestern University to a 17-4 win over Sacred Heart, in the season opener for the Pioneers on Wednesday.

The Wildcats, now 3-0, got off to a quick start sparked by a pair of goals by Courtney Flynn before the game was even two minutes old. In fact, NU had six goals in the first seven minutes of the game and led 11-2 at the half.

JoAnn Montesarchio and Jackie Reichert each scored for the Pioneers in the first half. Michelle Bruckner and Meghan Tucker scored in the second.

Sacred Heart was outshot in the contest, 22-8.
