
Pioneers Drop CCSU, 11-7, in NEC Lacrosse Action

New Britain, CT (April 1, 2003) - The Sacred Heart women's lacrosse team picked-up their second-straight win and second-straight in Northeast Conference play, handing Central Connecticut an 11-7 loss Tuesday night. Sacred Heart improves to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in the NEC while Central is now 0-3 in the NEC with the loss.
The Blue Devils scored the first goal of the game but Sacred Heart would score six of the next eight goals to take a 7-3 halftime lead. The lead increased to 8-3 before Central scored three of the next four goals to cut the lead to 9-6. Sacred Heart increased the lead to 11-6 with goals from Meghan Tucker and JoAnn Montesarchio. Central would score one more time before the end of the game to cut the final score to 11-7.
Sacred Heart was led on the night by Michelle Bruckner who had two goals and one assist. Christina Macchia and Montesarchio each had two goals in the victory.
The Pioneers return home on Friday, April 4th when they host Quinnipiac University at 4 pm.
