Senior Michelle Bruckner Named Sacred Heart Athlete-of-the-Week

FAIRFIELD, CT (April 21, 2003) - Senior Michelle Bruckner (Carle Place, NY) was named the Sacred Heart University Athlete of the Week for the week of April 14th through April 20th.
The Carle Place, NY native helped the Pioneers pick-up two-league wins last week and put SHU in a first-place tie in the league standings. Bruckner opened the week scoring two goals in the 10-5 victory over Long Island on Thursday. She then recorded five goals in a 15-13 win over Monmouth on Saturday, handing the Hawks their first conference loss of the season. In Monday's win over Vermont, Bruckner had two goals, including the game-winner with 38 seconds to play in the first overtime session. On the season, Bruckner has 39 points on 33 goals and six assists to lead the Pioneers in scoring
Bruckner and the rest of the Pioneers will close out the regular season with two Northeast Conference road games this weekend. SHU will travel to UMBC on Friday, April 25th for a 3:30 pm start and Mount St. Mary's on Sunday, April 27th starting at 1pm.
