
SHU's Amy Lavoie named to IWLCA Academic Honor Roll

FAIRFIELD, CT (July 1, 2004) - Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse player Amy Lavoie (Nashua, NH) was named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Academic Honor Roll announced Wednesday afternoon. Lavoie graduated with a degree in media studies after finishing a standout career for the Pioneers in goal this spring.
Lavoie was the key cog in Sacred Heart's defense this season, compiling the league's best goals against average (7.57 gaa), also ending the season ranked third among NCAA leaders. Her outstanding play on the field helped the Pioneers post the second stingiest scoring defense in the nation at 7.24 goals allowed per game. Her efforts on the field earned her a spot on the All-Northeast Conference second team.
The Nashua, NH native was one of 123 student-athletes representing 47 different institutions to be honored by the IWLCA. Her 3.42 grade point average also place her on the NEC Academic Honor Roll for the spring semester.
