The Pioneer women's lacrosse team helped contribute to Sacred Heart University's effort to aid those in need in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The team, under head coach Laura Cook's direction, helped to collect food and supplies all last week on campus to be sent to Biloxi, Mississippi.
The team, through the Campus Ministry, helped gather the items together and deliver it to Covenant Church in Easton to be loaded on a truck bound for Biloxi.
Pioneers Candice Celebre (Lake Grove, NY), Katie Salamone (Baltimore, MD), Lindsay Dragin (Hopkinton, MA) and Meghan McCaffrey (Garden City, NY) dropped off the team's contribution on Wednesday afternoon.
"This was a great opportunity for our team to show support to the victims of Hurricane Katrina by donating much needed food and supplies," stated Cook. "This was a devastating disaster that has brought many people together in an effort to help. I am proud of my team for helping out in that effort."
