SHU Closes Non-League Schedule at Lehigh.. Sacred Heart continues their current four-game road swing on Tuesday afternoon as the close out non-conference play against the Lehigh Mountain Hawks. The Pioneers are riding high after posting their first win of 2006 Sunday afternoon, a 10-8 win at Long Island that opened the Northeast Conference portion of the schedule. The Mountain Hawks have dropped two-straight at home, losing 10-4 to Holy Cross and 7-6 to Davidson last time out.
The Series... The all-time series is tied, 2-2. The Pioneers won last season on their home field, 14-13 and also took the first-ever meeting, an 11-8 decision played on a neutral field in Orlando, Florida. The Mountain Hawks have won both meetings on their home field, 9-8 in 2003 and 10-7 in 2004.

Last Meeting with Lehigh... The Pioneers scored 11 first half goals and withstood a late Lehigh rally to come away with a 14-13 win over the Mountain Hawks on March 29, 2005. Freshman Katie Salamone scored a season-high five goals to lead the Pioneers. Lehigh came out on fire, scoring on their first two shots of the game but Salamone scored her first as the Pioneers quickly bounced back just 1:17 later. The two teams traded goals over the next 14 minutes and Lehigh took a 5-3 lead with 12:32 to play. Sacred Heart's Brianna Bubeck started an eight goal scoring frenzy that closed the half where JoAnn Montesarchio scored back to back goals and Salamone and Natalie Smith had two goals apiece. Heather Gureckis finished off the run at 3:36 sending the Pioneers into the half with an 11-5 advantage. Lehigh cut the SHU lead to 11-7 in the opening minutes of the second half and later used another run, this time three-straight, to pull within 13-10. Lehigh made it interesting down the stretch scoring three goals in the final 5:22 to pull within one but SHU took the final draw of the day with 38 seconds left and ran off the remaining time.
Scouting the Mountain Hawks... The Lehigh Mountain Hawks are 3-6 on the year and 0-2 in the Patriot League. Sara MacIntyre leads the team with 27 goals, four assists and 31 points. She has all three game-winners on the year. Amy Chamberlain is also in double digit goals with 17 along with six assists. Meagan Tenety leads the team with 13 assists. Last Time Out... Emily Tully scored three times to help Sacred Heart to a 10-8 victory over Long Island in the Northeast Conference opener Sunday afternoon. Long Island University junior Amy Rizzo opened the scoring, registering a goal just 39 seconds into the game. The Pioneers, 1-7 overall and 1-0 NEC, would tally the game's next two goals by Tully and Heather Gureckis to take a 2-1 lead. The Blackbirds battled back as Nichole Lopez netted a shot to the lower left side and Rizzo nailed a free position attempt with seven seconds showing to cut the margin to 5-4 at the half. Tully registered two scores in the first thirty seconds of the second stanza and Mary Montesarchio chipped in another goal at the 24:03 mark to push the Pioneers to an 8-5 advantage.
History... This is the Pioneer's eighth year of competition in the Northeast Conference. Sacred Heart has qualified for the NEC Tournament four times and posts a 72-62 Division I record. The Pioneers have posted 10 wins in each of the last three years and have not had a losing season since 1998.
