2007 IWLCA Academic Team and Individual Honors
The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced their academic awards for the 2007 season with the Sacred Heart Pioneers earning All-Academic Team honors as well as six players earning a spot on the National Honor Roll. The Pioneers were one of three schools, with National Champion Northwestern and Albany that placed six recipients on the list.
The National Academic Team Award program recognizes those institutions that have achieved a Team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the 2nd semester of the 2006-07 academic year. The top three teams ranked by Team GPA are designated as Merit Squads while all other institutions with a Team GPA of 3.0 or higher are designated as Academic Squads.
The Pioneers qualified as an Academic Squad after posting a 3.14 grade point average this spring semester.
Qualifying for the IWLCA's National Honor Roll for the second straight season were seniors Brianna Bubeck (Political Science Major), Maureen Hohn (Philosophy Major) Heather McKillop (English Major) and Erika Buczak (Business Major). Juniors Alyssa Harris (Psychology Major) and Katie Salamone (Psychology Major) rounded out the list of Pioneers with their selections.
The IWLCA has honored 157 student-athletes from 57 Division I schools with inclusion on the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.
