SHU Women's Lax Announces Team Captains and Fall Schedule

FAIRFIELD, CT (August 30, 2007) - Sacred Heart women's lacrosse head coach Laura Cook announced her 2007 fall schedule as well as the team captains for the upcoming season, senior Alyssa Harris (Kings Park, NY) and junior Mary Montesarchio (Cortlandt Manor, NY).
Harris, who served as a team captain last season, has appeared in 40 games with 27 starts in her three-years at Sacred Heart. She is coming off a solid junior campaign that saw her put up six goal and four assists for 10 points. She also picked up 26 grounders, won 16 draws and had 12 caused turnovers on the year. As a sophomore, she scored a pair of goals with an assist, 15 grounders, nine draw wins and five caused turnovers. In her 2005 rookie campaign, Harris tallied eight goals with four helpers for 12 points.
Montesarchio is coming off an All-Northeast Conference first team sophomore season where she finished with 36 points on 19 goals and 17 assists, third on the team. She also earned a spot on the NEC All-Tournament team after leading the Pioneers with six points, scoring twice and assisting on four other SHU markers in tournament play. In her two seasons at SHU, she has scored 42 goals and assisted on 30 others. As a freshman, she garnered All-NEC second team honors.
The Pioneers will host their annual Alumni Game on Saturday, September 22nd on Campus Field. The team will take part in the Hofstra Tournament on September 29th and travel to both UConn and Holy Cross for individual scrimmages on October 6th and 20th.
