Mary Montesarchio Named Enterprise Rent-A-Car / SHU Student-Athlete of the Week

Junior women's lacrosse player Mary Montesarchio (Cortlandt Manor, NY) was named the Enterprise Rent-A-Car / Sacred Heart Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of March 24th through 30th. Montesarchio fueled the Pioneer offense to a trio of wins on the week and in the process set two new school records. The junior midfield finished the week with six goals and 12 assist in wins over Lafayette (17-10), Robert Morris (15-9) and Saint Francis-PA (18-2).
Montesarchio started off the week scoring a goal and dishing out a career-high seven assists, a SHU Division I record, against the Leopards. Friday saw Montesarchio lead SHU to it's third NEC win by scoring four times and assisting on another at Robert Morris. Her five point day against the Colonials put the junior over the 100 point for her career and gave her the new school record for assists in season. Montesarchio finished out the week with another "helping hand" kind of performance scoring once but setting up four more goals against the Red Flash to give SHU it's fifth-straight win and improve to 4-0 in the league. With her four assists on Sunday, Montesarchio set the new school record for career assists with 54 (52 - Jen Fallon, 1993-96). On the year she leads the team in scoring with 12 goals and 23 assists for 35 points.
