
Six Pioneers Garner All-NEC Honors

The Northeast Conference announced their women's lacrosse all-conference teams Thursday night with six members of the Sacred Heart Pioneers taking home the honor. Seniors Liz Ottey (Baltimore, MD) and Alyssa Harris (Kings Park, NY) along with junior Mary Montesarchio (Cortlandt Manor, NY) were named to the All-NEC first team with junior Amanda Williams (Monroe, CT), sophomore Carissa Hauser (East Northport, NY) and freshman Jessica Ingrilli (Wantagh, NY) garnering second team honors.
Montesarchio earns her second-consecutive first team nod after being named to the second team as a freshman. The junior midfielder led the team in scoring with 56 points, a career-high mark. Her 56 points this season is tied for 6th all-time at SHU for points in a season. She had game-winning goals against Villanova and Long Island. Her 36 assists set a new school record for assists in a season and also raised her career total to 64, making her the all-time leader in assists at Sacred Heart. She posted a school record seven assists in a 17-10 win over Lafayette. She had at least a point in all but one game on the year and posted four or more assists in five games. In NEC games, she led the team in scoring with 12 goals and 19 assists as well as in draw wins with 18. She is tied for first in the NEC rankings in assists per game (2.12) and 4th in points per game (3.29).
Ottey and Harris both earned all-conference honors for the first time in their four-year careers. Ottey finished third on the team in scoring with a career-best 44 points. Her 27 goals matched her career-best total from last season. Her 17 assists also marks a career-high. In NEC games she was second on the team in scoring with 14 goals and 13 assists for 27 points. Her 116 career points is 10th all-time at Sacred Heart. She matched her career-high with 4 goals against Fairfield. She posted three 5-point games on the year. She passed out a career-high 4 assists in the season finale against CCSU. She ranks 10th in the NEC in assists per game (1.00) and tied for 1st in 8meter free position goals (13 - 0.76).
Harris had a stellar senior season scoring a career-best 14 goals and 16 points. She led the team with 43 groundballs. For her career, she has 94 ground balls ranking her 8th all-time. In NEC games, Harris scored 8 goals with a team-high 24 ground balls. She scored a career-high three goals at Saint Francis (PA) with a matching career-high 8 ground balls.
Williams picks-up second team honors for the second-straight season. The junior attacker led the Pioneers with 39 goals scored this season, a career-best mark. She finished the year second on the team with 47 points. She had a team-best four game-winners, coming against Iona, Monmouth, Mount St. Mary's and Lafayette. Her 39 goals scored tie her for 10th at SHU for goals scored in a season. She finished second on the team with 30 draw controls. Scored a goal in all but one game and had three games this season with four goals, a career-high. She scored a team-best 21 goals with three assists in the eight NEC games. Ranked 4th in the NEC in goals per game (2.29), 6th in shots per game (5.24) and tied for first in game-winning goals (4).
Hauser battled injury all season but still finished fifth on the team in scoring. After scoring three goals in the first two games of the season, Hauser was forced to the bench with a foot injury for the next five games. She returned to scored 3 goals with 1 assist in a win over Monmouth. She missed an additional three games battling her way through both the foot injury and a knee injury but still finished third on the team in scoring in NEC games. She scored the game-winner at Wagner. In her 7 conference games, Hauser scored 17 goals with 8 assists. In the 9 games that Hauser played, the Pioneers averaged 12.67 goals on attack and posted a 6-3 mark. In the 8 games she missed, SHU averaged 10.38 goals and was 4-4. She ranks 10th in the NEC in goals per game (2.00) and 10th in points per game (2.80).
Ingrilli made an immediate impact, both offensively and defensively, in her rookie season. She finished sixth in scoring for a SHU team that had eight double digit scorers and won two NEC Rookie of the Week awards this year. Her 37 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers were second on the team as she drew the defensive assignment of marking many of the league's top players. In NEC play, Ingrilli finished with 13 goals and two assists with 16 ground balls and a team-best 10 caused turnovers.
The Pioneers will make their third-straight NEC Tournament appearance when they face-off with Monmouth Friday afternoon. Opening draw is slated for 2:30 pm at Quinnipiac University.
