
Pioneer Women's LAX Earns Academic Honors

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (August 13, 2007) - The Sacred Heart women's lacrosse team was named a 2008 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Academic Squad while a pair of Pioneers earned individual honors. Gradaute Katie Salamone (Baltimore, MD) and senior Meghan McCaffrey (Garden City, NY) were named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.
For Salamone it is her second straight season earning a spot on the IWLCA Honor Roll with McCaffrey making her first appereance.
The IWLCA has announced that 50 institutions in Division I have earned Academic Squad honors, including three that have been named Merit Squads. Teams that have a collective GPA of 3.0 or greater earn the distinction of Academic Squad; the squads with the three highest team GPAs earned the honor of being named a Merit Squad. 159 Division I student-athletes have earned Academic Honor Roll status for 2008, including five IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-Americans. Players must have achieved at least junior year status and have a minimum GPA of 3.2.
