Laura Cook Announces Four Captains For 2015 Season

"Being a three-year starter and the backbone of our defense," said Cook, "Kelly brings the experience and knowledge to an already core group of returning defenders."
A graduate of Shoreham-Wading River High School, Lopez has seen action in all three seasons of her time with the Pioneers. She picked up a career-best 23 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers as a junior. Entering her final season, Lopez has 45 ground balls, 31 caused turnovers, a goal and two assists.
"Demi is the vocal leader of our team," Cook said. "She has high expectations for this year and keeps the team motivated to reach our goals."
Schussler, a graduate of Wantagh High School, scored a career-best seven points, with five goals as a junior, following career-high 21 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers during her sophomore season. Over her three years at SHU, Schussler has netted seven goals and four assists, while picking up 55 ground balls and causing 38 turnovers, with at least 10 in each of her seasons.
"Brianna leads by example," said Cook. "She never takes a play off and always puts the team first. She is willing to do anything that is asked in order for the team to be successful."
A graduate of King Phillip Regional High School, Liljeberg has scored 21 times over her first two seasons at SHU, with 14 in 2014, and has handed out 11 assists, while also picking up 21 ground balls.
"Jenna sets the tone through her work ethic," said Cook. "She works hard in every single drive and give her all in everything she does."
The Pioneers complete the fall portion of their schedule on Saturday, at the Manhasset Play Day in Manhasset, N.Y. Last Saturday, SHU earned a pair of wins, in three games, at the Northeast Classic at Thayer Academy in Braintree, Mass.
