
Caitlin Delaney Earns Pair Of NEC Weekly Honors

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Junior midfielder Caitlin Delaney was named the Northeast Conference Women's Lacrosse Co-Player and Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after tallying 12 points against Fairfield and UMass Lowell last week.
Delaney scored nine goals with three assists last week in games against Fairfield and UMass Lowell. The junior filled the box score in Sunday's 17-5 win at UMass Lowell, scoring five goals with three assists, four caused turnovers, five draw controls, and six groundballs. This is the second time Delaney has been named NEC Defensive Player of the Week, having also earned the award on Feb. 22.
Through five games this season, Delaney leads SHU with 19 goals, 25 points, 21 ground balls, 15 draw controls, and 15 caused turnovers. She is among the top-10 in the nation in points (10th), goals (sixth), ground balls per game (fifth), and caused turnovers per game (third).
The Pioneers are back in action on Friday, March 18th when Sacred Heart hosts La Salle at 3 p.m.
