
Women's Lacrosse To Take On Bryant In NEC Championship Semifinals Friday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Sacred Heart women's lacrosse team will open the 2016 Northeast Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship on Friday at 4 p.m., taking on the top-seeded Bryant Bulldogs at Bryant Turf Complex.
Friday marks SHU's 12th appearance in the NEC Tournament. The Pioneers won three consecutive tournaments from 2008 to 2010. This is Sacred Heart's first NEC Tournament berth since 2012.
Bryant leads the overall series with Sacred Heart 5-3 after winning the regular season meeting May 1 16-5. The Pioneers last win over the Bulldogs was in 2012, 11-10.
Junior Caitlin Delaney earned her second consecutive First Team All-NEC selection on Thursday. Delaney leads the Pioneers with 35 goals, 18 assists, 53 points, 56 ground balls, 38 draw controls, and 42 caused turnovers. She currently leads the nation with 3.73 ground balls per game and is fourth with 2.8 caused turnovers per game.
