Small Has 10 CT's In Women's Lacrosse Home Opener

The Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse team dropped its 2020 home opener, 9-7, to visiting Vermont, Friday afternoon on Campus Field. The loss drops the Pioneers to 0-3 on the year, while the Catamounts improve to 2-3.

Trailing 5-1 at the intermission, SHU scored the first two goals of the second-half, to close within 5-3. The Catamounts scored four of the next five goals, before the Pioneers netted the final three tallies of the game.

The Pioneers return to action on Tuesday, when they travel to New Rochelle, N.Y. for a 3:00 pm contest at Iona College.

Reinold opened the scoring, 52 seconds into the game, netting a pass from Cesario
The Catamounts evened the score on an Erin Kloostra FPG at the 20:23 mark
That was the first of five goals in 15:54 that gave the Catamounts a 5-1 lead at intermission
SHU scored twice in the first 4:56 of the second, with Cesario and Kittredge both netting free position shots
Taylor Mullen (15:54), Vasile (13:31) and Large (11:14) scored three-straight for Vermont, to push the lead to 8-3
Kittredge scored unassisted for the Pioneers at 7:06, but Vasile answered 83 seconds later
SHU scored three goals in the final 4:53, with Kerri Metzler, Taylor Sweeney and Reinold finding the back of the net
