
Werlau Earns Player of the Week Honors

The senior attacker earned fifth career weekly NEC accolade
SOMERSET, N.J.— Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse attacker Lydia Werlau was selected as Northeast Conference Co-Player of the Week, announced by the league on Monday.
The senior combined for eight goals, three assists, two ground balls and three caused turnovers in the Pioneers' last two contests. Against Iona, Werlau notched a season-high seven goals and added one assist, two caused turnovers and one ground ball. Werlau then aided in SHU's 14-3 win over Deleware State on Sunday with one goal and two assists.
The senior earned her fifth NEC weekly award and her first since April 2019. Kasey Dorney of Wagner joins Werlau as Co-Player of the Week. Christina Rocarti of Saint Francis was selected Rookie of the Week, while Lauren DiStefano of Wagner earned Defensive Player of the Week.
Sacred Heart hosts Monmouth at Campus Field on Friday at 3 p.m.
