Sacred Heart Falls At Monmouth 13-9

Kittredge led Pioneers with three goals
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.— Even though it had momentum with a lead in the first half, the Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse team dropped its non-conference contest at Monmouth, 13-9 on Saturday.

Senior Emma Kittredge and graduate student Lydia Werlau contributed goals to help Sacred Heart to a 2-0 lead. Monmouth tied the game before senior Grace Reinold and first-year Maggie Araneo notched one apiece in the final minute to give the Pioneers the 4-2 first-quarter lead.
In the second quarter, the Hawks made it a one-goal game, but first-year Ryann Kearns found junior Kelly Nolan at the 1:53 mark to keep the team in front at halftime, 6-4.
Werlau scored the lone goal of the third quarter for the Pioneers as she tied the game, 7-7 at 6:19. The Hawks would go on to score the following two goals of the third to take a 9-7 lead.
Araneo brought the game within two at 7:45 in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough for SHU to make the comeback. Monmouth scored two more goals to bring the game to its final score of 13-9.
Kittredge was the leading scorer for the third time this season, as she posted three goals. Werlau and Araneo finished with two apiece.
Junior Juliana Henry made seven saves on the day.
