McElhenny Selected NEC Defensive Player of the Week

Graduate student collects first weekly accolade of her career
SOMERSET, N.J.— Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse defender Claire McElhenny was named Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the league on Monday.
The Davidsonville, Md., native combined for nine draw controls, six caused turnovers and six ground balls in the Pioneers' last two victories. SHU is now No. 1 in the conference standings with an undefeated 6-0 record.
The weekly nod marks the first in McElhenny's career.
Saint Francis collected other weekly awards with Autumn McHenry earning Player of the Week and Bella Fisher selected as Rookie of the Week.
The Pioneers return to action at LIU on Saturday at 1 p.m.
