Women’s Lacrosse Cruises Past Howard, 17-1

SHU had 11 different players find the back of the net
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse team netted a season-high 17 goals behind 11 difference scorers to cruise past Howard in Northeast Conference (NEC) action Saturday afternoon in the nation's capital. With the win, the Pioneers improve to 2-1 in NEC play, while the Bison remain winless, 0-4.
Emma Kittredge led the visitors in scoring with her third hat trick of the season and tallied an assist for a team-high four points. The Baldwin Place, N.Y. native has recorded back-to-back four-point games.
Jenna Lively also served as an offensive threat for the Pioneers, coming off the bench and collecting a team and career-high three assists.
Between the pipes for the Pioneers were Lisa Martin and Juliana Henry, who finished with a combined six saves.

The Pioneers had five different players – Kittredge, Maggie Barr, Maci Black, Maggie Araneo, and Shea Insinga, find the back of the net in the opening frame, giving the visitors the commanding 8-1 lead over the Bison.
Solid defensive work from the Pioneers held the Bison scoreless while Araneo, Black, Kittredge, and Sadie Stevens collected a goal to bring the halftime score to 12-1. Kittredge completed the hat trick at 3:58 when she put the ball past the Bison keeper on a man-down opportunity.
The third period saw the Pioneers take four shot attempts, which resulted in two goals from Kelly Nolan and Erin Herrold.
The fourth period saw the Pioneers add three goals from Mae Morelli, Claire Ferguson, and Jamie Tanner to put the game out of reach, 17-1.

The Pioneers return to Campus Field on Wednesday, March 27, with an afternoon bout with the Stonehill Skyhawks. Game time is set for 3:00 P.M.
