The Pios open the season at home against Bryant on Feb. 7
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse head coach Laura Korutz is excited to announce the Pioneers' 2025 schedule, which features a competitive slate of non-conference matchups followed by a challenging Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) schedule.
The Pioneers' offense will rely on a strong group of returning players: Maggie Araneo, who led the red and white last season in goals, and Shae Insinga, who finished fourth on the team with 26 goals.
Sacred Heart's defense will be anchored by returning Northeast Conference Defender of the Year Maci Black, Goalkeeper of the Year Lisa Martin, and All-NEC First and Rookie Team selection Madelyn Breitbeil.
Sacred Heart will open the season with an exciting home contest against Bryant on Feb. 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Campus Field. The Pioneers will look to set the tone early before hitting the road five days later for a mid-week showdown with Boston University on Feb. 12.
SHU then closes out the month of February by welcoming the Bears of Brown (Feb.23) for a 3 p.m. bout at Campus Field.
The Pioneers kick off March with an 11 a.m. road showdown against the Columbia Lions on the first of the month. The next two games for SHU will be home at Campus Field against New Hampshire (Mar. 8) and Stonehill (Mar. 19).
Three days later, the Pioneers begin their MAAC journey with a home game against Manhattan (Mar. 22) at 1 p.m. before wrapping up the month in Hamden, Conn., for a weekend battle with the Quinnipiac Bobcats (Mar. 29).
April starts with SHU heading to upstate New York to face Canisius University (Apr. 2). The Pios then head back to Fairfield for a pair of home contests against Siena College (Apr. 5) and Rider (Apr. 9).
SHU's road schedule will come to an end with back-to-back games at Merrimack (Apr. 12) and Fairfield (Apr. 16).
The Pioneers will close out their home regular-season schedule on Saturday, Apr. 19, with a 4:00 p.m. contest against Iona.
