Women's Lacrosse Stumps Saint Francis for Sixth Straight Win

SHU honored its 10-member senior class prior to opening draw
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse team found offensive support from eight goal scorers, while its defense limited Saint Francis to 19 shots to secure the 14-5 home win over the Red Flash Saturday afternoon at Campus Field.
Before the opening draw, head coach Laura Korutz and the women's lacrosse team honored its 10-member senior clash – Megan Agrillo, Lindsay Boyle, Maggie Bruer, Colleen Harriman, Juliana Henry, Ellie Holt, Molly Mineo, Mae Morelli, Kelly Nolan, and Jenna Wilen – for their hard work and dedication to the program both on and off for the field of play.
Emma Kittredge led the Pioneers' attack, tallying her sixth hat trick of the season behind four goals, while Nolan finished with one goal and a team-high three assists for four points.
SHU's Lisa Martin stopped seven of the Red Flash's 12 shots on goal to earn the win between the pipes.

The Pioneers jumped out to an early three-goal lead, 5-2, in the opening 15 minutes of play, behind three different players. Kittredge netted two of her four goals in the first period, while Insinga scored two, including a man-up, and Ellie Edwards tallied one.
Saint Francis managed to trim the deficit to within two, 6-4, after starting the second period with a 2-1 scoring spurt. Following a great save in the net by Martin and an unassisted tally from Nolan, the Pioneers remained ahead, 7-3, heading into halftime.
The Pioneers controlled the majority of the second half. The hosts outscored the Red Flash, 7-1, and held the visitors to just eight shot attempts to secure the home victory.
Up Next:
The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, April 20, with a road NEC showdown against the Seahawks of Wagner College. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
