How it Happened:
Sacred Heart wasted no time getting on the board in its season debut. After Bryant scored the opening goal, Jamie Tanner answered quickly, finishing off a feed from Taylor Farace to even the score at 1–1 early in the first quarter. The Pioneers generated early offensive pressure, but Bryant used a late first-quarter run to create separation, scoring five of the final six goals of the period to take a 7–1 lead after 15 minutes.
The Bulldogs continued to apply pressure early in the second quarter, but Sacred Heart showed resilience and settled in defensively. Midway through the period, the Pioneers capitalized on a strong possession when Tanner struck again, this time off an assist from Maggie Araneo, trimming the deficit to 8–2. Bryant responded with a pair of late goals in the final two minutes, including one at the buzzer, to take a 10–2 advantage into halftime.
Sacred Heart came out of the locker room with renewed energy and produced its best stretch of the afternoon in the third quarter. Bella Calvanese opened the half by finding the back of the net off a pass from Erin Herrold, and a few minutes later Nadine Galiano followed with an unassisted goal after creating space near the crease. The two-goal burst cut Bryant's lead to 10–4 and briefly swung momentum in the Pioneers' direction.
Bryant halted the rally with a pair of goals late in the third quarter to restore a multi-goal cushion, taking a 12–4 lead into the final frame. Still, Sacred Heart continued to battle, controlling stretches of possession and generating scoring chances against a veteran Bulldogs defense.
In the fourth quarter, Bryant's depth ultimately showed, as the Bulldogs added four more goals down the stretch. Tanner capped her hat-trick late in the game with her third goal of the afternoon, marking her first multi-goal performance of the season and accounting for three of Sacred Heart's five tallies in the opener.
